Carrollton cops are assholes
Jun. 23rd, 2012 12:27 pmI meant to post this last night but I was too tired.
The company I work for has some awesome benefits. One of them is that when we meet our sales goals as a company the employees of the support center (what Lori's calls corporate) get a half day off for free. I decided to use mine to get a full day off.
So, I decided that Vic and I would go on a little road trip. We were originally planning on going to Georgetown to this little bakery I've heard about and then on to Austin to see the capitol building.
Thursday I decided we'd just go to the bakery and maybe hit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame Museum (law enforcement Rangers, not baseball Rangers) on the way home.
We got fully on the road around ten yesterday morning, after stopping at WalMart for snacks (which we didn't eat), Mom's to pick up an ice chest and some ice and then getting gas. I needed to stop twice (this fucking car doesn't have fucking cruise control) and so it was around two when we got to Georgetown.
Since we'd been on the road so long we decided to walk around the downtown/square area where the bakery is after getting our cupcakes (which are worth the trip). Then we got back on the road.
A look at the clock told me that we wouldn't have time to stop at the museum, they'd be closed by the time we got to Waco. So it was decided we'd go back some other time.
We stop at Mom's to give her the cupcakes we bought for her and Dad and then finally headed home.
While at a red light two firetrucks drove by and a cop who had been behind me followed the second one. I made a comment about how whenever I see firetrucks headed in the directions of our complex, I worry that they might be headed there. And sure enough, this time they were.
There are a lot of elderly people living here and having a firetruck and ambulance drive in isn't unusual. But that wasn't the case this time. There was a real fire. In the building next to mine. Luckily the firefighters were able to get it out quickly.
I'm sure you're all wondering what this has to do with the subject of this post. Well, The cop who had been behind me at the light was blocking the entrance to the parking area nearest my apartment, making me park elsewhere. We had to pass her to get to our apartment and I asked, "So, what's going on?" Meaning "What happened? How did the fire start?" She replied, snottily, "It's a fire." I rolled my eyes and said, "I can see that. I was wondering if we know how it started." Her response was, "Uh, no." Clearly implying "You're such a fucking idiot. I got here just before you. Why do you think I know anything?" I just rolled my eyes again and continued on to my apartment.
After putting all our stuff away, Vic and I went out to talk to the other residents and watch the firefighters finish up. I got to talk to one of the former managers, she still works for the management company just at another location. She was on the phone with the current (bitchy) manager and told me that some of the kids said it was a dryer fire.
This marks the third time I've gotten attitude from a Carrollton cop. Why are they such assholes? I mean, all she had to do was say, "Sorry, ma'am. I just got here so all I know is that there's a fire." She didn't have to give me attitude especially since my taxes pay her salary.
On a different note, does anyone know what's up with LiveJournal? I haven't been able to get in all day, but someone is able to because I'm getting email alerts and it's starting to piss me off.
ETA: Whatever the problem was, it seems to be fixed now.
