Random post is random part two

Despite giving Mike up as a lost cause, I couldn't resist and texted him Monday morning.

Me: Just wanted to let you know how disappointed I am that we didn't have dinner Saturday. I hope everything is alright.
Mike: Good morning... I'm at my shop getting ready to go out on a furnace at a house in willow bend. Sorry about Saturday... My dad is 75. He lives just outside Austin. His air was not working, so I ran down to get it going for him. Everything is cool now.
Me: Would have been nice if you had let me know.
Mike: I know... I'm sorry.
Me: How do you plan on making it up to me?
Mike: What would you like???? Tell what would work.
Me: Dinner and a movie.

And I haven't heard from him since. I texted him yesterday morning expressing my concern over not hearing from him and still nothing.

What am I doing that's making these men run for the hills? Seriously. Why can't I find a good man who won't pull a disappearing act on me after just a few days?

To help offset the cost of the choir trip to New York, they're doing non-traditional fundraising along with the traditional, selling Little Caesar's Pizza Kits and poinsettias. Wednesday we had the first one, eat at California Pizza Kitchen and 20% of your meal goes to the choir.

While waiting for our food, Vic noticed a sign on the door stating that it's unlawful to carry an unlicensed hand gun on the premises and asked what that meant. The rest is in script format.

Me: Because of the concealed hand gun law.
Mom: Want to see mine?
Me: As if you have a gun.
Dad: *can't remember exactly what he said but it was basically that she was thinking about it*
Me: Why?
Mom: For protection. You know. From the president. *the way she said it was definitely lower case and like it left a bad taste in her mouth*

I was so stunned. It's clear they think he's going to come to Texas and break into their house and do something horrible, my mother probably thinks he'll rape her because he's a Negro (she grew up in a small town in East Texas that was one of the last, if not the last one to integrate). I am so going to rub their faces in it if the next four years prove to be one of the best terms ever.

But I did find out recently that she disagrees with Governor Perry about the law he passed that forces women going through an abortion to look at a sonogram and listen to the doctor describe what s/he sees.
